Your privacy is important to us, and we will make every reasonable effort to safeguard any information we collect.
This Privacy Notice (“Notice”) describes Carelon Global Solutions India and its affiliated companies’ (“Carelon”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) commitment to protecting candidate privacy. It explains our policies and practices regarding the collection, use, and protection of candidates’ personal information and sets out the associated privacy rights available to candidates under applicable law (refer to the Privacy Policy).
The purpose of this Notice is to inform candidates about the types of personal information we collect, how we use it, the legal basis for such processing, and applicable retention periods.
We may collect personal information directly from candidates or from other sources, in accordance with applicable data protection laws. We process personal information in accordance with the data protection laws applicable in the regions where candidates apply for employment with Carelon

Types of personal information we collect
The categories of personal information typically collected and processed in a recruitment context include the following:
Candidate personal information
Identification and contact details: Name, gender (where voluntarily provided), address, personal and/or business telephone number, personal and/or business email address, date of birth, and other contact details.
Professional information: Competencies and skills (including cognitive abilities and language capabilities assessed during the recruitment process), work experience, education, CV or résumé, employment history, educational background and qualifications, and third‑party references.
Languages, citizenship, and nationality: where necessary for role eligibility, legal work authorization, or compliance obligations.
Preferences: Such as preferred country of employment, areas of interest, and preferred methods of communication with Carelon.
Information collected during interviews
As part of the interview process, Carelon maintains records of interviews, including notes and comments made by interviewers for evaluation and decision making purposes.
Information collected from online assessments
During recruitment, candidates may be required to complete assessments necessary to evaluate suitability for a particular role. These assessments may be conducted online through third party service providers acting on our behalf.
Other recruitment‑related information
This may include information obtained from publicly available sources (including social media), limited to professional and recruitment relevant information reference checks, and other information relevant to recruitment activities, depending on the role and as permitted by law.
Additional information for shortlisted candidates
Once shortlisted, Carelon may collect additional information, including:
Copies of government‑issued identification;
Compensation expectations and current remuneration details;
Family‑related information where necessary and permitted by law;
Passport, visa, and work permit information (for expatriate roles);
Background check reports (including education, employment, and criminal history checks, subject to applicable legal restrictions and candidate consent where required;
Bank account details;
Expense details and supporting documentation for reimbursement during the recruitment process;
Documentation required under applicable immigration laws.
If you are successful, you may also be asked to provide information relating to third parties (such as referees). You are responsible for ensuring that you have obtained appropriate consent from such individuals and that they are aware their information may be shared with Carelon and, where applicable, its clients for reference purposes.
Candidate sensitive personal information
Carelon may collect and process special categories of personal information, where permitted by law, including:
Health information: Such as disability or medical information, collected solely to provide reasonable accommodations during the recruitment process and processed only with your explicit consent or other valid legal basis where permitted by law.
Criminal conviction data: Obtained through background checks only where strictly necessary for the role, subject to applicable legal safeguards and, where required, candidate consent.
Diversity‑related information: Such as racial or ethnic origin or religious beliefs, collected through diversity surveys, on a voluntary basis and where required, with explicit consent.
How we collect your personal information
Carelon collects personal information through various channels during the recruitment process, including:
Directly from you (when you apply online, via email, or in person);
Publicly available sources, such as job portals or other online platforms;
Academic institutions, training providers, or certification bodies;
Criminal record checks, where legally authorized;
Referrals from personal or professional contacts associated with Carelon; and
Third parties, such as recruitment agencies and background verification providers acting as independent controllers or processors, as applicable.
Purposes and legal basis for processing
Carelon processes personal information as necessary for recruitment and resourcing activities. Applying for a role with Carelon is voluntary, and candidates may withdraw their application at any time subject to legal or contractual restrictions.
Personal information is processed for the following purposes:
Communication
To request additional information necessary to assess suitability;
To inform candidates about vacancies;
To provide updates regarding applications and respond to inquiries.
Recruitment and resourcing activities
Scheduling and conducting interviews and assessments;
Evaluating, selecting, and recruiting candidates;
Contacting references provided by candidates;
Conducting background checks, arranging travel for interviews, and issuing employment offers for shortlisted candidates.
Where required by applicable law, processing is based on one or more of the following: (i) legitimate interests, (ii) performance of pre-contractual steps, (iii) compliance with legal obligations, and/or (iv) candidate consent.
Online assessments and proctoring
Carelon has a legitimate interest in conducting aptitude, cognitive, and language assessments to evaluate role suitability, improve hiring quality, and reduce recruitment bias. Where online assessments are unsupervised, Carelon may implement proctoring measures (such as image or video capture) strictly to prevent fraud and maintain assessment integrity. Such measures will be proportionate, limited to what is necessary, and will not involve biometric data processing unless explicitly disclosed and consented to, where required by law. Candidates are informed in advance of any proctoring activities.
Improvement of recruitment processes
Personal information may be used to review, develop, and improve Carelon’s recruitment processes, systems, and services. Where possible, aggregated or anonymized data is used.
Audit, Legal, and Fraud Prevention
Supporting internal and external audits;
Preventing and detecting fraud;
Complying with legal obligations or handling legal claims.
If Carelon intends to process personal information for purposes not listed above, candidates will be informed and consent will be obtained where required by law.
Security
Carelon implements appropriate technical and organizational security measures, consistent with industry standards, designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. Further details are available in the Privacy Policy.
Sharing of personal information
Carelon may share personal information with:
Carefully selected service providers (e.g., IT vendors, cloud hosting providers);
Assessment and testing providers;
Background verification agencies;
Travel, immigration, and expense management vendors;
Onboarding service providers;
External auditors and legal advisors.
Information may also be shared internally with Carelon employees involved in recruitment, or with clients where required for a specific role, and with regulators or law enforcement authorities where required or permitted by law or to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
International transfers
As a global organization, Carelon may transfer personal information to affiliated entities or third countries. Such transfers are conducted in accordance with applicable data protection laws and safeguards, including standard contractual clauses or other approved transfer mechanisms, if any, as may be applicable.
Retention of personal information
Personal information is retained only for as long as necessary to fulfill recruitment purposes and in accordance with Carelon’s data retention policies and applicable legal requirements unless a longer period is required or permitted by law.
Candidates may opt out of future consideration by contacting CarelonPrivacy@carelon.com.
Upon opt‑out, Carelon will cease processing and delete personal information unless retention is required by law.
For candidates who accept employment offers, personal information will be retained in accordance with employment‑related retention requirements.
Your rights
Candidates’ data protection rights are described in the Privacy Policy. Requests to exercise these rights may be submitted to dl-dataprivacy-cgs@carelon.com and will be handled in accordance with applicable law including rights of access, correction, erasure, restriction, and data portability, where applicable.
Data controller
For candidates applying to Carelon, the Carelon entity to which the application is submitted acts as the data controller and is responsible for ensuring that personal information is processed in compliance with applicable data protection laws. Contact details of the relevant entity and, where applicable, the Data Protection Officer will be made available upon request or in the Privacy Policy.
